Week of April 23 updates

The Senate third read and passed the budget on the floor this week. The Senate’s proposal mirrored that of the House version, restoring performance funding and the core funding for the UM 欧美口爆视频 at $38M, totaling $408M. However, this version left the line items as is, funding them at 100% ($14.8M). As you may recall, the House version funds the line items at 60% ($8.4M) but would roll them into the core

budget. In recent years, the Governor has withheld funding the line items, rolling them into the core would prevent the funding for our line items from being withheld in future years. Next week the budget will go to conference where the House and Senate will make their final decisions before finalizing and passing the FY19 budget.

On Tuesday, House Bill 1268, sponsored by Representative Donna Lichtenegger, passed the Senate. The bill allows the Missouri Dental Board to issue dental faculty permits to individuals who are employed by accredited dental schools, colleges or programs in Missouri. The bill now sits on the House Informal Calendar for a vote before heading to the Governor’s desk for signature.

On Wednesday the House Higher Education Committee attached numerous higher education amendments onto Senate 807, originally relating to degree offerings, to create a higher education omnibus bill. SB 807 includes Senator Caleb Rowden’s SB 1088 language, modifying the Uniform Agents Athlete Act and Representative Lyle Rowland’s, HB 2649, changing the cap on tuition rates and fees at public institutions of higher education, among many others.
